Wu ZhongYu （吴钟毓)
Wu ZhongYu (吴钟毓) was a member of the Hui minority, originating from MengCun village, his date of birth and death were not recorded. He was the descedent of Wu SanShan (吴三善) (another branch of the Wu family living in MengCun), and Wu Zhong in his later years adopted him as one of his disciples.
Wu ZhongYu learned martial arts from his childhood, he was assiduous and made an important contribution to the elaboration of the early shape of BajiQuan. A lot of his disciples and descendants were accomplished practitioners, especially Wu Mei (吴梅) (the son of Wu ZhongYu's nephew) who was nicknamed “Mei ErYe” i.e. "Mei the second" (梅二爷), and Wu ShiKe (吴世科, the son of Wu Mei). These three generations of people had a strong influence that reached over 100 miles around MengCun. For instance, Wu Mei had disciples up to the PoBei (泊北) village located about 15 km noth east of MengCun. Since the posterity directly related to Wu ZhongYu is quite dispersed in the region around MengCun, recorded data are sparse and the Wu family martial manual only mentions two direct disciples for Wu ZhongYu : his son Wu LianCheng (吴连城) and Wu Mei.
